Pilates Safari - Laikipia - Tumaren
Pilates with Vic, Walking, Camels & Climbing !
There is not better way to improve mind and body than in a beautiful natural area like Tumaren, Laikipia. Atop mountainous Kopjes of granite surrounded by wildlife and beautiful landscapes we will work daily on our Pilates method. Our superhero instructor, is Victoria Kelmanson whose dedication to anatomy and physiology began with a university degree and culminated in her teaching Pilates trainers at the largest training program within Europe. Our safari is the perfect combination between wilderness, wildlife and fitness and guided by some of the best trackers and walking guides in Kenya.
Let the adventure begin!
25th April
Meet in Nanyuki and in your private car, convoy for 2 hours to our camp and your lovely mobile safari tent at the base of an ancient rock Kopje, Naiasura. As the day begins to cool off we will head out on a short stroll looking for wildlife and back to camp for an evening session of Pilates by the glowing fire. After hot showers we will enjoy cocktails and dinner under the stars.
26th April
We will be woken up early with hot water in our basins outside our tents and tea and coffee at the rocks. Following tea and coffee we will enjoy Sunrise Pilates as the dawn chorus serenades us. After a light breakfast we will walk with the camels through the morning to Tumaren Camp. The camels accompany us and can be ridden along the journey also they will bear our snacks and drinks for the walk. We will arrive at Tumaren Camp in time for a refreshing swim and a healthy but delicious lunch as well as a well deserved rest or read after. At the waterhole in front of camp a steady flow of wildlife and birds visit, creating an enchanted entertainment.
In the afternoon we will walk / drive to Losera Moru, an impressive rock kopje in front of Tumaren. For those who want to try their hand at rock climbing this is the perfect spot with a choice of easy to tricky climbs with Mt Kenya as the backdrop. For those who have exercised enough the drive and the views are well worth it and watching the sunset from the peak is also a choice activity, especially while spying for the Leopards and Striped Hyenas that call the rocks home.
27th April
Wake up to birdsong and Pilates on the plains with Giraffe, Impala and Zebra’s strolling by. We will then walk or drive west to Oldonyo Nanyuki, another wonderful outcrop to arrive at a delicious healthy brunch under a Fig tree on the Ewaso Nyiro river. After a dip or float down the river to cool off we will drive back to Tumaren Camp. In the afternoon Vic will teach using her reformers while others can swim and walk before their turn.
28th April
Wake up with ginger and lemongrass tea and head out on walk while others enjoy a session with Vic on the reformers. Everyone will have a session on the reformers.
