27th December 2023 to 6th January 2024

27th December: Arrive in Nairobi

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport on Lufthansa LH590 at 22h10, you will be met outside arrivals by the hotel shuttle service to take you across to the Four Points by Sheraton

28th December: Nairobi to Laikipia

This morning at 06h30, you will be met by a driver from ‘Airports & Beyond’, and taken across to Wilson Airport to check-in for your 08h00 scheduled Safarilink flight to Loisaba, arriving at 09h30. You will be met by a driver from Karisia and transferred across to your first camp.

4 Nights

28th December to 1st January: Mobile Walking Safari - ‘Air, Bed & Camel’

All our mobile walking safaris are tailor made and the route will be put together especially for your family, but we typically walk about 10-15 kms in the mornings accompanied by trackers, guides and a some riding camels. We spend the morning walking to the next campsite and the main train of camels and Laikipia Masai and Samburu staff will have gone ahead on a more direct route to set up the camp ahead of our arrival. The afternoons are spent relaxing while it is hot and then going on an evening adventure.

Tumaren Camp

2 Nights

1st to 3rd January: Tumaren Camp, Laikipia

Set on the edge of a wide plain this beautiful camp looks west towards granitic inselbergs that define our local landscape. Each tent is furnished uniquely and all the tents offer sweeping verandas from which most of our plains game can be spotted. The grasslands are rich with wildlife and you can spend hours watching animals wander by or photographing the huge variety of birds coming to the bird bath.

Tumaren is rich in wildlife and our Samburu and Masai guides provide a great perspective on not only the game but also the local cultures of Northern Kenya. Our guides will plan your stay according to your desires, wildlife and the local calendar. Each day can include guided walks, camel rides, visits to the camel creche, game drives, birdwatching, picnics, tracking, visiting a local manyatta/market (if the day is right), visiting a school and rock climbing.

3rd January: Tumaren to Laikipia Wilderness

After breakfast this morning, a driver from Karisia will transfer you across to Laikipia Wilderness Camp

3rd to 5th January: Laikipia Wilderness, Main Camp

Laikipia Wilderness is an authentic, classic safari camp in Northern Kenya, offering a huge range of activities providing an adventurous experience for those who wish to do more than just look at Africa through a window.

The freedom of this area means you can discover Africa in a more connected way than just witnessing it out of a moving vehicle. Explore rocky outcrops, walk along the river that carves it way through this part of Laikipia with an experienced guide. Venture through valleys and on top of escarpments with endless views of wilderness. Stop and listen and watch for a while.

Their guides, activities and sense of adventure are geared towards families of all ages.

Loisaba tented camp

1 Night

5th January: Loisaba Tented Camp

After breakfast this morning, a driver from Laikipia Wilderness will transfer you across to Loisaba Tented Camp.

Perched on the edge of an escarpment, Loisaba Tented Camp is designed to capitalize on unhindered views across Laikipia's mottled landscape all the way to Mt Kenya. All accommodations and main areas enjoy a breathtaking vantage point over an expansive panorama.

Visitors to Loisaba are offered a myriad of activities to experience the wildlife and landscape on many different levels. Loisaba boasts a fleet of brand new custom-designed Land Rover safari vehicles for game driving both day and night. Other activities include horse-riding, camel-trekking, guided bush walks, fishing, mountain biking, cultural visits to Samburu villages and visits to the anti-poaching sniffer dogs.

6th January: Laikipia to Nairobi/ Depart

Today you will be transferred back across to the Loisaba airstrip for your Safarilink scheduled flight departing at 11h55 to Wilson Airport, Nairobi, arriving approx 13h15 where two ‘Airports & Beyond’ drivers will be waiting and vehicles at your disposal until dropping you at Jomo Kenyatta Airport for your 23h55 Lufthansa LH591  departure.
