3rd January: Arrive in Nairobi/ Fly to Laikipia

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport with Qatar at 00h05, you will be met by a driver from ‘Four Points by Sheraton’ hotel outside the Arrivals Terminal, to take you the short distance across to the hotel to rest and freshen up before your onward journey up to Laikipia. After lunch, you will need to take the same shuttle transfer back across to the airport to meet a representative from ‘Tradewinds’ who will escort you through to your East African Air Charters pilot for your private flight up to Tumaren, Laikipia departing at 15h00.

3rd to 9th January: Tumaren Camp, Laikipia

Set on the edge of a wide plain this beautiful camp looks west towards granitic inselbergs that define our local landscape. Each tent is furnished uniquely and all the tents offer sweeping verandas from which most of our plains game can be spotted. The grasslands are rich with wildlife and you can spend hours watching animals wander by or photographing the huge variety of birds coming to the bird bath.

Tumaren is rich in wildlife and our Samburu and Masai guides provide a great perspective on not only the game but also the local cultures of Northern Kenya. Our guides will plan the days according to your desires, wildlife and the local calendar. Each day can include guided walks, camel rides, visits to the camel creche, game drives, birdwatching, picnics, tracking, visiting a local manyatta/market (if the day is right), visiting a school, rock climbing and swimming in our beautiful 20m pool.

9th January: Fly up to the Namunyak Conservancy, Northern Kenya

After breakfast, you will be transferred the short distance across to our Tumaren airstrip, to meet your 10h00 Air Wilderness private charter flight up to Namunyak airstrip, where you will be met by a guide from Sarara and transferred up to Sarara Camp.

9th to 11th January: Sarara Main Camp

Sarara is a unique conservation & ecotourism destination, driven by the indigenous Samburu people of Northern Kenya. With six spacious en-suite rooms with outdoor showers – and breathtaking views of the savannas and Mathews Mountain Range.

Highlights of you stay here will include the camp’s refreshing infinity pool which overlooks a permanent waterhole, frequented by elephants and other wildlife.

11th to 13th January: Sarara Treehouses

Nestled into an ancient forest glade at the foot of Warges Peak, Sarara Treehouses emerges from a lush canopy of trees.

With elephants roaming freely beneath idyllic stilted tented suites and frequenting the waterhole below an expansive guest area – Sarara Treehouses ensures continuous connections with its magical setting – as well as the wildlife calling it home!

13th January: Namunyak to Nairobi/ Depart

This morning you will be transferred back to the Namunyak airstrip to meet your East African Air Charters flight departing at 10h30. On arrival at Wilson Airport, Nairobi, a driver from ‘Airports & Beyond’ will collect you and be at your disposal for the rest of the afternoon until dropping you at Jomo Kenyatta Airport for your departure with Qatar at 17h45.
