March 22nd - You will be met off your flight by Tradewinds and helped through customs. Airports and Beyond will then drive you to Langata and to Manzili.
Manzili House
Manzili House, located in the leafy suburb of Langata in Nairobi, Kenya, is a charming and tranquil retreat that blends modern elegance with a rustic touch. March 23rd: Soames Hotel -
In the morning drive North from Nairobi through the central highlands to Nanyuki and Soames Hotel. The 3 hour drive takes you through some of Kenya’s most productive land and a stop at the Sprout Cafe is a fun interlude with a great little shop. Arrive at Soames in time for lunch. Soames is nestled within a picturesque open pasture facing Mt Kenya and is a stylish retreat offering a blend of modern comfort and classic charm. With the stunning backdrop of Mount Kenya, the hotel features contemporary rooms with elegant furnishings and private terraces that overlook the expansive gardens. The restaurant serves a delightful menu of locally sourced and internationally inspired dishes, making it a favourite for both residents and travellers. Conveniently located near key attractions like Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Soames Hotel provides a peaceful and luxurious base for exploring the beauty of Laikipia. In the afternoon we will visit Tambuzi Farm which is famous for its Scented Roses that are often seen in the most prestigious events in the UK and Europe. They are proudly carbon neutral and all of the donations of the days tour goes to provising water tanks to the local neighbors.
March 24th: Karisia Walking Safaris
You will wake up early and drive to Ol Pejeta Conservancy with a beautifully packed breakfast from Antonia’s Kitchen. This gives you a chance to see the famous white and black rhinos of the region and an array of other game against the majestic backdrop of Mount Kenya. The drive is a scenic journey through the heart of Laikipia’s wildlife-rich landscapes and you will reach your mobile camp in time for lunch. This 2.5-hour drive seamlessly blends wildlife viewing with breathtaking scenery, setting the tone for the adventures ahead.
The mobile camp will be set up in a remote location and each tent is comfortably made up with it’s own toilet and shower. A tasty buffet lunch is generally followed by a siesta and then an afternoon walk and sundowners. Back at camp a hot shower under the stars is one of safaris greatest luxuries followed by a sit down dinner under the stars.
March 25th - Tumaren Camp
After an early breakfast you will set out on a walking safari with the camels and your guides. The walk will take you through the morning - looking for tracks and wildlife along the way. The walk is about 10-12 kms and you will stop for snacks and water while soaking in the landscape and learning from the Laikipia Masai and Samburu guides about their ways of life. You will arrive at Tumaren Camp in time for lunch. The camp has 7 tents and they all look out across the open plains and a waterhole that has a constant flow of wildlife coming to it.
Tumaren Camp offers an authentic safari experience brimming with adventure. Known for its exceptional naturalist guides, the camp provides unique activities such as guided walking safaris that immerse guests in the sights, sounds, and scents of the African bush. For the adventurous, Tumaren’s rock climbing routes cater to all levels, with panoramic views and the occasional curious wildlife observer. In the afternoon we can visit the local school and the baby camel creche for those who are interested.
March 26th-27th Roca River Camp
At 0615 you will set out on an early morning walk to Losera Moru looking for predators in that morning light. Those who are keen can try rock climbing on the granite rock faces and after a delicious breakfast you will head back to Tumaren in time for your flight to the Mara.
The journey by air with Wilderness Charters from Tumaren Camp to Mara Musiara Airstrip is a breathtaking experience, offering sweeping views of Laikipia’s dramatic landscapes and the vast savannahs of the Maasai Mara. March 28th-29th Shompole Wilderness
