8th October: Arrive in Nairobi

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport on Lufthansa at 20h30, you will be met outside arrivals by the hotel shuttle service to take you across to the Four Points by Sheraton (Bed & Breakfast)

9th October: Nairobi to Laikipia

This morning at 09h00 you will be collected by a driver from ‘Airports & Beyond’ to drive north, up to Nanyuki (approx 3.5hrs). Here you can have a break and some lunch at Barney’s Restaurant before continuing on to Tumaren ranch with one of our drivers (approx 2hrs).

9th to 13th October: ‘Air BnC’ Mobile Walking Safari

All our mobile walking safaris are tailor made and the route will be put together especially for your family, but we typically walk about 10-15 kms in the mornings accompanied by trackers, guides and a some riding camels. We spend the morning walking to the next campsite and the main train of camels and Laikipia Masai and Samburu staff will have gone ahead on a more direct route to set up the camp ahead of our arrival. The afternoons are spent relaxing while it is hot and then going on an evening adventure.

13th October: Tumaren Camp, Laikipia

Set on the edge of a wide plain this beautiful camp looks west towards granitic inselbergs that define our local landscape. Each tent is furnished uniquely and all the tents offer sweeping verandas from which most of our plains game can be spotted. The grasslands are rich with wildlife and you can spend hours watching animals wander by or photographing the huge variety of birds coming to the bird bath.

Tumaren is rich in wildlife and our Samburu and Masai guides provide a great perspective on not only the game but also the local cultures of Northern Kenya. Our guides will plan your stay according to your desires, wildlife and the local calendar. Each day can include guided walks, camel rides, visits to the camel creche, game drives, birdwatching, picnics, tracking, visiting a local manyatta/market (if the day is right), visiting a school and rock climbing.

14th October: Laikipia to North Coast

After breakfast this morning, a driver from Karisia will transfer you back to Nanyuki airstrip for your Safarilink scheduled flight to Nairobi, Wilson Airport, departing at 11h30, connecting with the Malindi flight which departs at 13h50. On arrival at 16h00, you will be met by a driver from Ocean Sports hotel, and transferred to Watamu.

14th to 18th October: Ocean Sports, Watamu

This afternoon, you will be transferred back up to Malindi airport to check-in for your Safarilink scheduled flight departing at 16h25 to Wilson Airport, Nairobi, arriving approx 17h30 where an ‘Airports & Beyond’ driver will be waiting and vehicle at your disposal until dropping you at Jomo Kenyatta Airport for your 22h25 Lufthansa  departure.
