19th October: Arrive in Nairobi

On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta Airport on British Airways at 20h35, you will be met by a representative from Tradewinds and escorted through immigration & customs and out to your hotel shuttle service to take you across to the Four Points by Sheraton (Bed & Breakfast)

20th October: Nairobi to Laikipia

This morning at 08h30 you will be collected by a driver from ‘Airports & Beyond’ to transfer you across to Wilson Airport to check-in for your Safarilink flight departing at 10h20 to Loisaba. On arrival at Loisaba airstrip, you will be met by a guide from Karisia to drive out to your first mobile camp.

20th to 23rd October: Mobile Walking Safari

All our mobile walking safaris are tailor made and the route will be put together especially for your family, but we typically walk about 10-15 kms in the mornings accompanied by trackers, guides and a some riding camels. We spend the morning walking to the next campsite and the main train of camels and Laikipia Masai and Samburu staff will have gone ahead on a more direct route to set up the camp ahead of our arrival. The afternoons are spent relaxing while it is hot and then going on an evening adventure.

23rd October: Tumaren Camp, Laikipia

Set on the edge of a wide plain this beautiful camp looks west towards granitic inselbergs that define our local landscape. Each tent is furnished uniquely and all the tents offer sweeping verandas from which most of our plains game can be spotted. The grasslands are rich with wildlife and you can spend hours watching animals wander by or photographing the huge variety of birds coming to the bird bath.

Tumaren is rich in wildlife and our Samburu and Masai guides provide a great perspective on not only the game but also the local cultures of Northern Kenya. Our guides will plan your stay according to your desires, wildlife and the local calendar. Each day can include guided walks, camel rides, visits to the camel creche, game drives, birdwatching, picnics, tracking, visiting a local manyatta/market (if the day is right), visiting a school and rock climbing.

24th October: Tumaren to Borana

This morning you will take a beautiful drive further North, with a Karisia driver, up to the Borana Conservancy at the foot of Mt Kenya.

24th to 27th October: Borana Lodge

Borana Lodge is steeped in history and style. Located at the heart of Borana Conservancy, Kenya’s newest and most successful rhino sanctuary, Borana Lodge is set against a beautiful hillside with an organic design and panoramic views of Mt Kenya. You will be accommodated in one of their two-bedroom family cottages (5 & 6)

You will spend the next three days enjoying this spectacular lodge and the many activities they have to offer. Borana Lodge offers some of the most thrilling, authentic and unique ways to encounter Kenya’s wildlife and wilderness thanks to their conservation efforts.  The Borana Conservancy strives to retain the land as a pristine wilderness that guests are able to enjoy first hand. Walk through the bush, ride across the conservancy on horses or mountain bikes, view the wildlife in open-top safari vehicles, or lounge at the infinity pool and enjoy the view.

27th October: Laikipia to Nairobi/ Depart

This morning, a driver from the Lodge will take you on a last game drive through the Conservancy and across to the neighbouring and adjoining Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, where you will meet your scheduled Safarilink flight at the Lewa airstrip, departing at 11h25. On arrival at Wilson Airport, Nairobi, at approximately 13h15 you will be met by a driver from Airports & Beyond who will be at your disposal for the afternoon until your 22h45 British Airways departure from Jomo Kenyatta Airport.
