Tumaren to Mt. Kenya Bike and Hike Safari

Hakuna is a swahili word many people might know from The Lion King’s anthem, Hakuna Matata, which means, there is no worry. Hakuna is the ‘there is no’ part and then Gari means car. This is the ultimate no car safari.

Here at Karisia we like to think we choreograph the perfect safari but this trip was first conceived by friend and guest, Marc. He came up with a most cunning plan, one we are thrilled to showcase to you below.

Using nothing but human power (and a bit of modern battery technology) we set off from Tumaren on 7 night Odyssey to the top of Mt Kenya. It was the ideal way for the bike fanatics amongst us, riding normal bicycles to share the experience, with our friends and family who could cruise with a bit of help from an electric bicycle. The trip was a joy.
