Loseramuru, a stunning granitic hillside, is a prominent feature on the horizon as visitors approach Tumaren Camp. On arrival in camp, the foreground is often times occupied by the plains game that visit a salt lick in front of camp. After a quick tour of your tent and the camp your guide will be able to tell you a bit about the area and current location of the best wildlife in the area. They will tell you about activities and setting up what you might want to do each day. Our camels are always available to accompany walkers and to tote gear and people to the wildest corners of our conservation area. Our Gameviewing Landscruisers are also always at the ready and can be used day or night to look for our the rich wildlife that distinguishes Laikipia as one of the most hopeful conservation models on the continent.

Over the course of your 4 days at Tumaren you might choose to explore the Ewaso Nyiro River and the band of riparian vegetation that follows its banks. The river is an excellent spot for approaching the Elephant herds that come down to drink as well as the other animals attracted by the water or the lusher habitat. Exploring Nyasura and the other rock kopjes around Tumaren can also occupy mornings and evenings and rock climbing is always a great option for those that have an interest.
