19 June: Tumaren
We will collect you in Nairobi and drive you to Tumaren in Laikipia. The
drive takes about 6 hours. Tumaren is a beautiful conservation area two
hours from Nanyuki and closer to the start of your walk. An evening walk
is possible or simply relax looking out over the plains.
20 June: Tale
After breakfast we will drive to the start of the safari, about 1.5 hours
through dramatic country.
We will meet our team on a sand river below Tale Hill and they will welcome
us with cold drinks and a tasty lunch. After a relaxing afternoon we will
walk up the shark fin hill, Tale and look out across the vast plains towards
the Mathew and the Karisia Hills.
21 June: Nantodo
We will wake up early and set off towards the river that stretches a long
way below us. On the way we will look out for gerenuk, grants gazelle
and the beautiful grevy zebra. We will stop for refreshments on the way
and by lunch time we will be at camp. After an afternoon of relaxing by
the river we will go on an evening walk, hunting for the noisy, but shy
Stone Partridges and fantastic Verreaux's Eagles who both frequent the
rock faces of Nantodo.
22 June: Namasaa
This is the longest day of walking and we will wake up very early and
set off as the sun is rising. We will walk up a long hill to an awesome
pinnacle called Ngai Suisui that has a dramatic 360 degree view of the
area and is also the nesting site for a pair of Verreaux Eagles. We will
relax here for an hour or so enjoy some snacks and the view as our camels
slowly climb up the hills out of the valley. We will then walk down to
the river again to a serene spot called Namasaa. The landscape is spectacular
and we will camp under some enormous Neutonia Trees, watching out for
hippos in the deep pools. We will be likely to be serenaded by Pearl-Spotted
Owlets.

23 June: Nagaratat
We will walk along the river and then up a rocky river course called Lengatoi.
There are figs trees clinging to rocks and klipspringers perched high
on the rocks above. We break out of the valley and on to some rolling
country where we will look for elephant and the peculiar Pancake Tortoises
that live in cracks in the rocks. From camp we will hopefully see the
local herds bringing their livestock to drink. We will go on an evening
stroll looking for the colourful birds and enjoy sundowners on a rock.

24 June: Leshashi - Nalarai
We will walk on up stream looking out for greater kudu and wild dog as
well as waterbuck and bushbuck. Relax at this dramatic camp through the
heat of the day and paddle in the pools. In the evening we will walk slowly
along the river looking for the elusive leopard.
25 June: Ndadabo
Walk up and out of the valley to a camp on the river opposite Loisaba
Wilderness.
26 June: Travel
We would walk to the vehicle and then on to Nanyuki for your flight to
Nairobi.
